How to create a Messenger to send to your client for review and/or delivery of images.

There are three ways to initiate the Messenger Wizard:

1. From a proofsheet, clicking on the ‘Send’ action. NOTE: if you initate a Messenger from a proofsheet, you will be taken directly to ‘Step 2: Arrange Images’

2. From the Messenger tab, clicking ‘New Messenger’ at the bottom of the page

3. From the Navigator, clicking on the ‘+’ sign next to ‘Messenger’

Step 1: Select Images

Navigate this step as you would ordinarily navigate DFStudio, double clicking on projects to enter proofsheets, clicking images to highlight, etc.

For example, to send a client your first selects from a project proofsheet:
1. Under the ‘Selects’ dropdown, choose ‘1st Selects’
2. Click ‘Select all on page’ or ‘Select all’ if there is more than one page
3. Click ‘Add To Messenger’ at bottom of page

To add images from across multiple projects, follow the same steps as above, using the links at the top left of the page to return to the main list of projects

When you are finished with this step, click ‘Next Step’ in the bottom right. Note that you can return to any earlier step once you have reached Step 5: Send.

Step 2: Arrange Images

In this step, you can drag and drop images to rearrange on the page. You can also sort using the dropdown in the top left. To REMOVE images from your Messenger, hover over the image name with your mouse, and click on the trash can icon that appears.

Step 3: Preferences

Basics:

Title — appears at the top of the Messenger
Email Subject — appears on the email your client receives that contains the link to the Messenger
Expiration — set a date for the link to the Messenger to expire
Message — text typed here will appear in the email your client receives that contains the link to the Messenger

Template — There are four different Templates to choose from when sending a Messenger:

Standard: gives recipient ability to view images (proofsheet, 1-up, compare); mark select levels; download medium size images (625 pixels on the long side); create a PDF proofsheet; send a response.
Download Only: gives recipient ability to download medium (up to 625 px) or large (up to 5440 px) images; user can be given access to download all files at once or one at a time.
View Only: user may only view images (proofsheet, 1-up, compare) and send a response.
Approval Only: commonly used for sending to a publicist — recipient may view images (proofsheet, 1-up, compare) and mark kills.
Custom: pick and choose which features the recipient has access to.

For Standard, Download Only, Approval Only, and Custom Messengers, you can choose background color (black–>white), the position of the action menu (left/top), and the initial view (proofsheet/1-up). Your choices wille be previewed on the page (except for background color).

Step 4: Recipients

There are two ways to add recipients already in your Contacts: start typing their name/email in the recipient box and click on the result that comes up, or search for them on the right and click on their info. You can also type email addresses into the list manually, separating by commas. Email addresses not already in your Contacts will be added for future use. You can also choose to CC yourself on the Messenger, and list recipients in the Messenger email.

Step 5: Send

At this point, you may click on any of the earlier steps to return to that step. Clicking ‘Send Now’ will send the Messenger and your client will recieve an email with the link to the Messenger.
